The history of the Nihilist Spasm Band up until 1992 is summarized in the liner notes for WHAT ABOUT ME (Alchemy Records, 1993). The Band's tour of Japan in March, 1996 is described in the liner notes for THE NIHILIST SPASM BAND: LIVE IN JAPAN (Alchemy Records, 1997). During that tour the Band played at La Mama in Tokyo, Muse Hall in Osaka, and TakuTaku in Kyoto. It also appeared on the TV music program, TAMORI'S WORLD OF MUSIC.

Since its tour of Japan the Band has played in many places in Canada. During 1996 it played at The Ship Inn at The International Sound Symposium in Stjohn's Newfoundland (June), at The Mockingbird in Toronto, Ontario (September), and in Port Colborne, Ontario (October),

During 1998 it played at The Christopher Cutts Arc Gallery, Toronto, Ontario during Murray Favro's art opening (May) and at the International Festival de Musique Actuelle in Victoriaville, Quebec (May).

The Band has also played many times in the United States. In 1997 it played twice at The Empty Bottle in Chicago, Illinois (January and July), and then at The Knitting Factory in New York City (August). In September the Band played in Detroit, Michigan; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Cleveland, Ohio. In 1998 it played in Buffalo, New York (May); Rochester, New York (May); and Ann Arbor, Michigan at Edgefest (October).

All the members of the Band except John Boyle now live in London,Ontario, Canada in 1999, and the Band has played there many times recently. It plays almost every Monday night at the Forest City Gallery, sometimes with and sometimes without an audience.

Important public performances also took place there in May, 1996; May, 1997; August, 1997; and December, 1998. On March 27 and 28, 1998 the first NO MUSIC FESTIVAL took place at the Forest City Gallery and the Aeolian Hall, where the Band played with many other musicians, including Thurston Moore of SONIC YOUTH from New York; Jojo Hiroshige, junko, and Aya Onishi from Japan; John Corbett and Terri Kapsalis from Chicago; Hal Rammel from Wisconsin; Alan Licht from New York; and Alan Bloor (Knurl) from Toronto. The Band also played at The Whippet Lounge, Embassy Hotel (April, 1997) and at The London Regional Art Gallery (October, 1998).

The 34th Nihilist Picnic took place on September 13, 1998 at Poplar Hill, Ontario. The Band appeared on CFPL Television, London, Ontario (Behind the News, January, 1997). The recording for EVERY MONDAY NIGHT was made at DB Recording Studios, London, Ontario on October 4, 1998.
