The summer of 1985, half way through the grey 80's.It was the zenith of Reagan/Mulroney/Thatcher politics and Just Say No/Rock Lyrics Are Evil madness. All in all, it was a miserable decade.
During the same week that Bob Geldof staged 'Live Aid', a punk/hardcore band hailing from London Ontario Canada called Napalm Baby's embarked on a summer tour designed to blow off some steam, wreak a bit of havoc and get their music heard outside of familiar turf.
The Premature Burial Tour kicked off in London Ontario and wound its way through Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and back-Of all the shows, the gig in Ottawa was by far the best. The crowd was receptive and their energy was intense. The band soaked this energy up and fed it right back at them.
Some of the gig was recorded on 4 track Teac Tascam at 3 3/4 IPS. The tape sat for years until an opportunity to hear its contents uncovered blazing segments from a gig that members of the band still talk about to this day. All the glorious mistakes, raunch and unprecedented speed of the tunes are preserved, screaming to be heard. The July heat takes its toll as the last song comes to an abrupt ending before its conclusion when Danny Napalm throws his guitar through the drum kit-that's what all the racket is at the end. The best music of the decade came from the underground, enjoy it for what it is ...DIY punk/hardcore oozing with resentment and frustration
from life in the 80 's.

Dedicated to Wayne Fisher and Dave Newsome
